and the Earth Moves Under My Feet...

So, you're here. You like science?

Like the guy I picture that opens the trench coat revealing fake watches that says "Come over here, I've got something to show ya," I'd like a few minutes of your time. So, come over here, I've got something to show ya.

A pretty short article on the history of our planet as it relates to plate tectonics--the link is here--over at

If you don't want to read the article the video is cool, but this video is a must see for all raineworld visitors (double click to get it full screen).

...creator of worlds

Okay, this is Venus. It's an image taken by the Magellan space probe.

Why is it here now? Well, I found this simulation you might want to try.

When I was younger, and before SimCity, there was SimEarth. The goal was to establish sentient life on a planet you controlled. You could adjust terrain and the like. Well, it turns out NASA has a new simulator with much much better graphics. It's called Extreme Planet Makeover. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Get it while it's Hot

Extra Credit you ask? Alright, here goes. One page about ANY Atomic Theory scientist and their contribution to the whole. Nothing on paper. All digital here--email me your completed assignment. Rules & Requirements? Hmmmm. One page. Up to 20 points. See what I did there? I made it vague so you can play within a wide set of guidelines to find interest and topic. And then I inferred a point system that is dependent on the quality of your work. Expiration date? January 14th @ 745 am.

Have fun and good luck.
